APY is annualized and includes compounding. Variable yields can change; fees can reduce earnings. Listed access features are not a complete service inventory.
Look beyond the headline APY.
Your expected balance
Compare the rate that applies to your actual balance. Check minimums and tiers rather than relying on a headline yield.
Your access routine
Decide whether you need transfers, card access or checks. Review limits and timing before relying on an account for regular payments.
Your total cost
Check charges for the services you use. A $0 monthly fee does not guarantee that every transaction or service is free.
Money market account questions, answered.
Which money market account is best?
Compare the yield at your balance, access methods, fees and provider requirements. This page currently covers two candidates from our initial shortlist, not the whole market, and does not assign an overall winner.
Are the rates on this page live?
No. They are published-rate snapshots checked on October 8, 2026. CIT’s page dates its displayed rates July 1, 2026. Both accounts have variable rates. Confirm the current APY directly before opening.
Does no monthly fee mean no other charges?
No. Other service or transaction charges may apply. Review the fee schedule, especially for services such as wires, stop payments, ATM use and card services. Available services and charges differ by account.
Do both accounts provide the same payment features?
No. Quontic advertises debit-card and check-writing access. CIT’s comparison page highlights mobile check deposits, transfers and Zelle. Confirm the available features and limits in each account agreement.
Can I use one as my everyday spending account?
Check the payment methods, withdrawal rules and transaction limits against your needs. Do not assume a money market account provides every feature of a checking account.
Do I need to lock my money in for a fixed term?
These are deposit accounts rather than fixed-term CDs. Access still depends on the provider’s transfer, withdrawal and transaction rules. Their yields can change.
How does deposit insurance apply?
Review the bank’s deposit disclosures and your other deposits at the same underlying bank. CIT is a division of First Citizens Bank, so deposits are not separately insured from other deposits at the same bank in the same ownership category.
Will this comparison include more accounts?
This is our initial two-account shortlist. We plan to add suitable accounts as our comparison coverage expands. It is not an exhaustive list of available money market accounts.
Can I apply from outside the United States?
These are U.S. account offerings. Providers set their own residency, age, identification and other eligibility requirements. Check directly before applying.
